As part of NENA’s continuing commitment to keeping our members informed, we want to let you know about this update from Paul Suplizio, Chairman of the WOTC Coalition.
The National Association of Governors’ Committees on People with Disabilities (NAGC) is kicking off the campaign of disability advocates for permanent WOTC by sending letters to House Leader Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker Paul Ryan (see below for the text of the letter)
Paul states that we need all disability advocates in the fight to make WOTC a permanent tool for creating job opportunities for people with disabilities. WOTC is vitally important to those with a disability seeking jobs–it must be equally vital to disability advocates because successful employment is, for many, the cornerstone of dignity and equality in their lives.

Text of the NAGC letter:
I am writing on behalf of the National Association of Governors’ Committees on People with Disabilities (NAGC) to urge your support for extension of the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) permanently by including it in the tax code.
NAGC is the national organization of states and territories Governors’ Committees on People with Disabilities that work to improve employment opportunities for people with disabilities. We also support those programs and incentives that help people with disabilities find work.
WOTC has helped many of people with disabilities become employed. Continuing the tax credit can help even more find work. It has proven its worth as a highly cost-effective way to help people with disabilities obtain employment in the private sector. NAGC urges Congress to authorize WOTC permanently when it takes up a tax reform bill later this year.
